good-bye october

this has been a crazy hard month. it just has. because most of my writing brain is being devoted to my thesis, right now i am only able to manage the simplest of dialog. so here, in list form, are the happenings from the last three weeks of my life. get ready.

surgery. a harder recovery than expected. an infected belly button due to some stitches that were not removed. gross and sort of painful. davy & ellen two days later. oh so fun.  catching up on homework and lots of it. curtis pops a disc playing volleyball. he is laid out and in lots and lots of pain. he walked like a grandpa. i called him old man brink. curtis’s mom goes to the hospital with severe pneumonia. 12 hours later she goes into septic shock and then ten hours later she is on life support. curtis flies to denver to see his mom and be with his family. i stay in nyc. i write 25 pages of my thesis. curtis is gone for almost a week. his mom begins to slowly recover and the fear of her dying is going away. the day after curtis comes home his brother and wife and our sweet nephew odell come for the weekend and to see curtis play at the lincoln center. the trip was planned before their mom got sick. great weekend and a much needed vacation for everyone. his mom seemed to be on the mend but then the seizures began and they don’t stop for almost 24 hours. doctor’s still don’t know what is causing them but have gotten them under control with medication. she is still in the ICU. in the middle of all of this i started a round of clomid. boo. made me sad and edgy. another IUI is around the corner and i am not convinced. we had a snowstorm and our radiators kicked on. i am not convinced about this either.

that’s it. good-bye october.
